"Not finding a plate available as I had promised you, I set to work and made you on zinc my "Faneuses d'Éragny". It is a little rough and will displease your editor, but he will have on the other hand the will to make it rough and not pretty, besides that it will gain with the steeling. I hold this plate at your disposal [...]", during his next visit to Paris, at the Hotel de Russie. A few days later, he writes "I received from the printing house G. Petit a proof of the tedder on Hollande paper, would you be so kind as to think of having me print some proofs on Ingres paper of different shades? [...] ". Pissarro had lived in Éragny-sur-Epte since 1884.
