Its sale on January 13, 1863, n° 31- Allegorical subject. Cupid as a child has taken a honeycomb, and as he tastes it, the bees wound him with their stings. It is thus of the voluptuousness; it lasts little and it is often mixed with bitter pains.

We thank Dr. Dieter Koepplin who, in a letter dated August 18, 2022, confirmed the autograph character of this work and the date of the 1540s/1550s, and compared it to no. 398A of the Friedländer and Rosenberg catalog, 1978/79 edition, a work kept in Nuremberg at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum.
