Necklace made of old large "Rosetta" beads with chevrons, and brass beads. Cameroon. Glass beads, brass, cotton. Provenance: Vitart Collection. These beads were made in Murano between the late 1800s and early 1900s and were used as trade beads in Africa and North America. This herringbone bead is the creation of the daughter of the famous glassmaker Angemo Barovier (1405-1460), highly valued and sought after by collectors today: the herringbone bead, according to the inventory of the master glassmaker, appears in 1496, his daughter named this bead rosetta.
