REFORMER P.A.S. "J. Calvin", [Geneva] December 22, 1555; 1 oblong page in-4 (framed with a portrait). Rare receipt from Calvin for his salary as first minister of the city of Geneva. Order of payment from the syndics of Geneva, dated December 20, 1555: "Nous Sindiques et Conseil de Geneve A nostre bien aymé tresorier general salut vous commandons delivrer a Spectable Seigr maistre Jehan Calvin nostre premier ministre de nos cité pour son gaige des présentes quartier et dymes asavoir la somme de cent vingt et cinq florins".... Signed Lambert, Beguin and L. Aubert. Below, Calvin writes the receipt in his own hand: "I confess to have received the sum contained in this order and this by the hands of Monsieur le thresorier des Arcs. Faict ce 22. de Decembre 1555. ICalvin".
