Latin fragment, handwritten on parchment; second half of the 9th c. Large manuscript leaf on parchment (360 x 290 mm), written in Latin, recto and verso on 20 long lines per page, alternating red and black initials, headings in uncial script and text in caroline minuscule. Reuse of binding. Remarkable liturgical manuscript from the Carolingian period, dating from the second half of the 9th century. TEXT This leaflet produced by a monastic scriptorium, gathers the collects and other orations of the mass: secret or prayers on the oblates (here "SUPER OBLT"), the passage of the preface specific to each Sunday (here "PFAT") and the communion antiphon (here "AD CO"). The collects were the books of the celebrant of the religious office, containing the texts that he should pronounce during the mass. This collection contains the short readings of the lessons said during the different hours of the office (the capitulars) and the prayers that closed the hours (the collects). They could vary according to the feasts and this is what we see in this leaflet where each feast has its own prayer. This manuscript is a precious witness to the religious practices and prayers said in the Carolingian monasteries. BIBLIOGRAPHY P.-M.
