Copy of the work of Franz-Xaver Winterhalter presented at the Salon of 1855 which included a portrait of the emperor and, as a counterpart, that of the empress. The original paintings no longer exist today. They adorned the Tuileries Palace in Paris and most likely disappeared, along with the Palace, during the events of the Commune in May 1871. This official copy of the time is beautifully made.
