IRAN Kadjar 19th century.
Rectangular ceramic tile with polychrome molded decoration on a blue background of a scene inspired by the Khamseh of Nizami, representing the Sassanid king Khosrow, on horseback, seeing the princess Shirin at her bath, that a woman tries to shelter from the sovereign's gaze. Inscriptions at the top Khosrow and Shirin 1311 (1893-94) at the bottom signed Ustad Ali Mohammad 1311 (1895-96).
