Created in 1847 by Louis Joseph Mathieu, the House of Mathieu quickly became the reference among manufacturers of medical instruments and surgical cutlers. Supplier to the Faculty of Medicine and hospitals in Paris, the Ministry of War and the Navy, it participated in the Paris World Fairs of 1887, 1889 and 1930 where it was awarded the Grand Prix.
