Jacques Viénot (1893-1959) is one of the great French designers of the 20th century. From 1933 to 1943, he was advisor of the internal and external trade for the Printemps department stores. After the war, he founded the Institut d'Esthétique Industrielle (IEI) where the famous Roger Tallon (1929-2011) taught from 1953. The IEI will become in 1984 the French Institute of Design (IFD)
