Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Lighthouse. 1922. Watercolor and ink brush over pencil. Signed lower right. Inscribed "Leuchtturm" in pencil on verso. On light cardboard. 52 x 41 cm (20.4 x 16.1 in), sheet size. [KT]. - Important subject in impressively bright colors. - The former student of architecture is visibly fascinated by the unusual construction of the lighthouse. - Of unique futuristic vividness. - Exhibited in the important retrospective at the Lenbachhaus Munich in 1989.
