Iznik tile Siliceous paste with polychrome decoration painted under transparent colorless glaze. Turkey, Iznik, circa 1600, Ottoman Empire. Broken and glued, one corner missing. 24.7 x 25 x 1.8 cm This Iznik tile has a beautiful polychrome decoration, of floral motifs swirling on a white background in a central central medallion, and around plant motifs and saz leaves on a turquoise background. The Louvre holds a tile of a similar type under the inventory number OA 3919/409. It has on the back an old collection label with the number 5.
