F. SAUL (XIX-XXth century) Young woman with pampers Proof in sculpted white marble on an oak base carved with a gouge Signed on the back "F.SAUL" and bears an apocryphal signature "Frédéric Goldscheider". Situated "Firenze". Height: 62 cm Total height: 83 cm (small accidents and lacks, especially to the hat) Provenance : La Linchine workshop of the BORDEAUX-LE-PECQ House, made by architect Claude PARENT in 1963-66 (died in 2016). This house was selected in 1996 and 1998 to represent France at the Venice Biennale of Architecture. History: F. SAUL is an English sculptor, active in Florence at the beginning of the 20th century, where he worked with Carrara marble. Little information about this sculptor and his work has come down to us. A few rare pieces can be found in museum collections or in prestigious places. One of his sculptures "Aurora" was exhibited in 1904 in the United States during the famous World's Fair of St Louis and acquired by the St Louis History Art Museum. Similarly, a bust of "Beatrice" (probably the famous Beatrice Portinari, muse of Dante Alighieri), 66 cm high, signed "F.SAUL, Firenze" and belonging to the National Trust of The United Kingdom, can be seen in one of the salons of the famous "10 Downing Street", in London since 1953.
