Autograph manuscript entitled "Idea on Friendship", 24 pages in-4. Autograph manuscript entitled Idée sur l'Amitié, written entirely in Rousseau's hand, with additions by the writer and notes and corrections by Madame Dupin. Very elaborate manuscript, with only a few erasures. The Idea on Friendship comes from a research requested by Madame Dupin to Jean-Jacques Rousseau, then secretary of her. The manuscript is followed by a set of notes collected in a folder with the title 'Des Avantages de l'Amitié'. Some notes and corrections in the hand of Madame Dupin. Fragile document: damage in the upper right part, and humidity stains that have caused some missing parts, but the text has not lost any legibility. This manuscript is accompanied by notes and other manuscripts: -Notes in a folder entitled "Des avantages de l'amitié" (The advantages of friendship), 14 pages of various sizes, including five autographs by Rousseau. -Three manuscripts entitled "Idée sur l'amitié" or "Idée de l'amitié": one of 32 double pages, crossed out, annotated, by different hands; the second, a draft of 36 pages partly written by Madame Dupin; the last, 34 pages including 11 autographs by Rousseau. All these manuscripts deal with researches and reflections on friendship, which were asked to Rousseau by Madame Dupin of whom he was the secretary.
