To be compared with various caricatures made by Horace Vernet of his contemporaries in the world of science, Lord Brougham, of music, such as Halévy, or of museums, such as Alexandre du Sommerard (Paris, Musée de Cluny).
The majority of these portraits seem to have been of his colleagues at the Academy, architects, painters, sculptors and engravers, made in the spring of 1840 (Cf. Paris, Nouveau Drouot, Etude J. Lenormand & P. Dayen; expert P. Dubois, April 15, 1983, n°41 a 65
