FRENCH-CHINESE WORK
Suite of four red lacquered chairs with straight molded backs and square seats flanked by hemispherical side springs at the intersection of the uprights. Legs with four molded legs connected at the top by a cruciform spacer. Engraved decoration of bamboo canes and a cartouche in the Chinese style on the back and seat (wear, scratches and small chips). Four similar chairs made by Pierre Legrain to complete the set are attached.

History: former collection of Jeanne Tachard, coming from the dining room of the Parisian apartment of the street Emile Menier in Paris (XVIth), whose first floor was decorated by Pierre Legrain between 1920 and 1921 and that the fashion designer lived in until her death in 1963. It has remained in the family ever since.
