Head of an apostle or Christ in limestone carved in the round with minimal remains of gray paint. Normandy or Ile-de-France, 1311-1313. Provenance: Former Charles Roblin collection, former H. Roux collection, circa 1920, marble restorer and sculptor rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, Paris. H: 29,5 cm. The end of the nose and part of the superciliary arches have been filed off. This head is probably an apostle's head. Made of Vernon limestone, it is to be compared with the ensemble sculpted at the beginning of the 14th century for the collegiate church of Ecouis.
