Syracuse. Silver tetradrachm (415-405 BC). Second democracy. Signed by the engraver Evainète. 17,31 g. Head of Arethusa on the left, hair raised in a sphendon. Around the edge, four dolphins. R/ Quadriga galloping on the right, Niké flying on the left, bearing a tablet signed Evainète. Tudeer 42 (A/14 R/24). H.G.C. 2-1333. Gilbenkian 277. Rare. Of the best style. TTB to superb.
