Grey cloth slipcase printed in red on the spine. Paris La Bibliothèque Française 1949 / E.F.R. 1964. Printed at 275 numbered copies of which 245 on Arches and 30 copies on Japon nacré, this one 1 of 30 (n° V/30). Copy signed in ink by Aragon and in red pastel by Picasso on the colophon. The work is accompanied by a pearly Japon folder, 1 original drypoint on China representing a picador on horseback, justified V/XXX, signed in green pastel by PICASSO, 1 aquatint on Rives justified V/XXX, signed in green pastel by PICASSO, 3 aquatints refused on Rives, not signed and 1 drypoint identical to the one on China, not signed. The work of Mérimée is followed by a text of ARAGON. It is enclosed in a separate grey cloth portfolio, 4 etchings on Japon nacré all justified V/XXX and signed in green pastel by PICASSO and 4 same etchings not signed and not justified on Arches and crossed out.
