Konantré loom pulley
Baule people
Ivory Coast
Wood
H. 21 cm
Provenance :
Collected in situ by Mr. Begué between 1931 and 1935
Weaving loom pulley surmounted by a beautiful sculpture evoking a bovid mask placed horizontally on the head of a dancer. Although it has no ritual function, the ornamentation of the konantré testifies to the Baule's pronounced art for the decorative arts and the attention they paid to objects of daily life.
