Nicolas Jacques exhibited regularly at the Salon between 1804 and 1840. He was a pupil of Jacques David and Jean-Baptiste
Isabey. Considered one of the best miniature portraitists of his generation, he was regularly commissioned by the Orleans family during the Restoration period, while also working for numerous actresses and members of the aristocracy.
