The titles are decorated with vignettes by Henry Monnier, repeated on the covers.
The one in volume I represents Julien Sorel appearing to Madame de Rênal near a confessional; the one in volume II, Mathilde de la Mole holding Julien Sorel's head.
A fine copy, entirely untrimmed.
The covers, preserved, have been lined.
