Dream and Life. Aurelia. Nicolas Flamel. The Intermezzo. The Arts in Constantinople. A Tour in the North. The Montenegrins. The Child's Chariot. The 18th Century. The Boulevard of the Temple. The Dance of the Dead. Le Pauvre Pierre. Paris, Victor Lecou, 1855.
In-12: green half-chagrin, four-ribbed spine decorated with gilt and cold filets (period binding).
First edition.
The posthumous collection is preceded by a notice on Gérard de Nerval by Théophile Gautier and
Arsène Houssaye: the work was published three months after the author's suicide.
Aurelia, Nerval's last work.
Nerval corrected the second part of Aurelia in January 1855. This story, which many consider as his masterpiece, constitutes at least, by its date, its intentions and its content, the synthesis of Nerval's work.
A very fine copy, perfectly preserved, in a contemporary binding.
From the library of Jean A. Bonna, with ex-libris.
