19th CENTURY ECALE View of St. Peter's Square in Rome Engraving Height 76 cm - Width 103 cm (gilded wooden frame) This view was produced at the beginning of the 19th century to commemorate the accession of Henry Benedict Stuart, Cardinal-Duke of York, to the post of Dean of the College of Cardinals in Rome. This type of work is reminiscent of those of the famous Giovanni Battista Piranesi, known as Piranesi.
