Note:
Antoine Bouzonnet Stella, nephew of the history painter Jacques Stella (1596
- 1657) trained with his uncle in Paris. He then continued his training in Rome from 1657 to 1664 with Nicolas Poussin. On his return to France, he obtained the title of Painter to the King in 1666 thanks to his appointment to the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture under the direction of Charles Le Brun.
This work is part of the artist's religious production, which was very prolific in the Lyon region.
