Manuel ROSENTHAL (1904-2003). 2 autograph music manuscripts, Three poems by Marie Roustan, 1933-1934, and 1939.
Two versions of these three melodies on poems by Marie Roustan: for voice and piano, and with orchestra.
I Rêverie : " Pour calmer ma détresse "..., Lent, " Le Mont Valérien 28 fév. 1934 " ; II Pêcheurs de lune : " Je suis Jean, le pêcheur de lune "..., Rêveur, " Le Mt Valérien 30 mai 1933 " ; III Sérénade : Sur le bord de l'eau s'endort la libellule "..., " Le Mont Valérien 25 Février 1934 ". The dates are those of the vocal-piano version, written in black ink on 11 pages of 3 oblong bifeuillets in-fol. with 16 lines, in a titled folder.
The orchestral score (7, 10 and 11 pages in 3 quires on oblong bifeuillets in-fol. with 24 lines, in a titled folder) is dedicated "to Marthe Widkopff"; the title page bears the dates: "1934 - orch. in 1939". The orchestra includes 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, harp, celesta, drums, and strings. Each melody is signed and dated at the end by Peyriat in 1939, on March 20 (I), March 18 (II) and March 21.
