First illustrated edition and first single board. A very fine copy in a magnificent and richly coloured long-grained chagrin cloth (cf. 1st Jacob Sale).
This hardback version was not published until the beginning of 1866, only the paperback and hardback versions having been put on sale in the last months of 1865, perhaps even before (the catalogue of 32 pp. sometimes present in these two versions - see lot n°54 - does not indicate the hardback edition).
