Bound in dark plum half-chagrin with five boxed spine. Plates in dark plum grosgrain percaline with cold frames. Edges gilt. Moiré endpapers. 6 + 372 pp. Printed by Bonaventure et Ducessois. First illustrated edition. Covers, spines and corners rubbed. Otherwise a fine copy. A copy with a visiting card from Jules Verne: "En vous remerciant, Cher Monsieur, pour votre traduction de l'article du journal suédois./Votre bien dévoué/Jules Verne". Enclosed is an envelope addressed to "Monsieur Schytte/1 rue St Louis/En ville". The two documents are glued together (on their left-hand side) on a blank page between the first endpaper and the title page. In addition, this is the personal copy of the letter's recipient. It contains the bookplate of Mr. Schytte on the first flyleaf. Also enclosed is the death notice of a descendant of the family: Juliette Schytte (1873-1960), herself a contemporary of Jules Verne.
