Publisher's full orange percaline and "à la couronne végétale" boards. Lenègre bookbinder. Gilt edges. Beige velvety endpapers. Printed by Jules Bonaventure. Ex-dono in grey ink on the first endpaper: "E. Rogie./Le 6 Xbre 1868." Second illustrated edition and second hardback. Various small restorations. Freckles on the serpente. Otherwise a fine and scarce copy in this particularly rare shade for this title. Orange made its first appearance in 1868 in the range of percalines selected by Hetzel. In the works of Jules Verne, it was rarely used, except for the first printing of Captain Grant's Children. It was used until 1875, especially for single volumes.
