[Les Tours du Monde] Le Tour du Monde en 80 jours/[Europe] Le Docteur Ox by Jules Verne. Illustrations by de Neuville and L. Benett (Le Tour du Monde en 80 jours) and by Bertrand, Froelich, Th. Schuler, Bayard and Marie (Le Dr. Ox). Paris, Bibliothèque d'Éducation et de Récréation, J. Hetzel et Cie, sd (ca 1876). Large double in-8°. Publisher's full violet percaline binding "with two elephants" Engel. Engel Binder. Gilt edges. Chamois endpapers. Printed by Gauthier-Villars. Spine a little faded, but the golds are well present. Covers slightly rubbed. Otherwise, a very nice copy of this extremely rare title in this colour. The golds on the 1st plate are dazzling!
While the "banner" binding (concomitant with this one) still preserves the original order of the titles, Le Tour du Monde en 80 jours comes to the fore in this edition bound by Engel. Let us add that only four titles were proposed in this first version of the "two elephants" binding by Engel. In the first edition, they are The Mysterious Island and Michel Strogoff, and in the reprint, Around the World in 80 Days/Doctor Ox and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.
