Refuges, two autograph manuscript fragments [1942], two complete chapters of Refuges by Léon-Paul Fargue; 9 pages in-4 (270 x 210 mm) autographed in black ink. Superb evocations of Paris during the 14-18 war. The first fragment of 6 pages on 3 sheets, written on both sides, with numerous corrections, crossed-out sentences and additions. The second of 3 pages on the fronts of 3 sheets. Some traces of metal fasteners. Important autograph draft in two states of one of Fargue's novels in which he evokes Paris. After the great success of his Piéton de Paris, published in 1939 by Gallimard, Léon-Paul Fargue published a new book in 1942 by Emile-Paul, in which the evocation of Parisian memories and places was again the main subject. It was published during the Second World War in an occupied Paris. "The springtime of Paris allows for various fl orations. But I want to put, at the top of the benefits that Paris secretes and distributes, the Charm. So it is from spring that come to us these pleasures of palette, these vibrations of orchestras which transform the districts into paintings and ballets, even during these days of war.
