I don't know enough about Gaugain's work to tell you about it, as for Wisther and Fantin-Latour, they are painters without a phrase who didn't linger either on the literary or on the technical side of their art, while Cézanne likes to assert very strongly technical preoccupations. - Painters to whom I often think of Rembrandt, Velasquez, Le Lorrain, Manet, Seurat.
