Franz ERTINGER (Colmar or Weil 1640 - Paris 1710) The Battle of Arbèles Canvas Signed and dated lower left F. Ertinger pinx: 1695 75 x 158 cm Unframed Engraver and draughtsman, Ertinger was active in Antwerp, registered as a master at the Guild of Saint Luc in 1677/78. He then left to work in Paris as the King's engraver and travelled to Rome. For our painting, Ertinger took the painting by Charles Le Brun, 1669, which is kept in the Louvre Museum.
