Provenance, by Élisabeth Royer: - Collection Aguado, marquis de Las Marismas - Hôtel Aguado, Paris, 6, rue Grange-Batelière, Sale after death of the Aguado collection, in his hotel, from 20 to 28 March 1843, by Bonnefons de Lavialle and Benou, auctioneers, lot n°375, as "Gozon, conqueror of the dragon of the Isle of Rhodes" (168 x 235 cm), adjudged 1.520 francs - GAP - Offered in homage to Germain Sée (1818-1896), doctor of Emperor Napoleon III, of Sultan Murad in Constantinople and of Victor Hugo, 45 bd Malesherbes, Paris - By family descent, Pierre Sée collection (1880-1937), 8, bd Emile Augier, Paris, - Spoliated on May 8, 1944 to Mrs. Pierre Sée, née Hélène Cécile Alexine Anspach (1887-1976) - Seized by the Möbel-Aktion, under the n° MA-B 1304 Entered the Jeu de Paume in May 1944, Kiste Nr. MA-B 92 (given the size of the canvas, the case of the Saint-Georges, "Kiste Nr.
