With the partially engraved patent, decorated with the plate and the colored buttonhole rosette, the fully calligraphed text meaning "The great President of the Republic of China awards to M. Sarraut, Governor General of France in Vietnam the Jiahe [Golden Grain] medal of the first class. As a token of our goodwill. Decreed on February 28 of the 3rd year [1914] of the Republic of China by Yuan Shikai. Delivered on April 27, 3rd year of the Republic of China by XiaShou Kang, Director of the Civil Service Bureau No. 2 of Xian Standard", wet seal (small tears). Preserved in its red silk-covered mailing tube.
