STAEL. - Letters from Nicolas de Staël to Pierre Lecuire. Paris, Pierre Lecuire, 1966. In-folio, black box, in the outer margins, inclusion of a vertical blue and red double-sided rod, taking up the colours of the cover collage, lining and guards of beu nuit suede, smooth back, illustrated cover and preserved back, half-box shirt with band and light flap, bordered case, both lined in the same way (P.-L. Martin, 1980). First edition of this collection of 100 letters to Pierre Lecuire. Cover illustrated with a color engraving (lino) from an original glued paper by Nicolas de Staël. Edition at 250 copies, including 225 on Mandeure wove paper. One of the 25 leading copies on Auvergne paper from the Richard-de-Bas mill, containing a proof of the cover in colours, on fine laid paper, 4 letters and an envelope from Nicolas de Staël in facsimile, a tricolour postcard from Pierre Lecuire : n° 17. It is also enriched with two manuscript copies signed by Pierre Lecuire, on printed backgrounds, in black of a letter from Pierre Lecuire to Nicolas de Staël dated September 15, 1954, and in red of an unpublished text dated 1949.
