Julien de PARME (Cavigliano 1736 - Paris 1799) Portrait of a young girl in a painted circle Rectangular copper in circular view Signed and dated on the back Julien de Parme faciebat 1774 Size: 22 x 22 cm. 8 3/4 x 8 3/4 in. Dim. with frame: 26 x 26 cm. 10 1/4 x 10 1/4 in. Scratches, small cracks and cracks, old restorations, accidents and missing frames Expert : Cabinet TURQUIN - Lot visible at the firm by appointment We compare this painting to another "Maiden's Head", this one turned by three quarters, wearing the same knot of hair and also painted on copper. Signed and dated the same year 1774 on the back, it is kept in a private collection in Paris and slightly larger (diameter: 26 cm, see the catalogue of the exhibition "Julien de Parma", Rancate - Mamiamo di Traverseolo, 1999-2000, p. 104, n°39). Our figure is also very close to the front dancer, to the right of the composition "Thetis carries arms to Achilles" (Florence, Pitti Palace Gallery, op. cit., p. 58, no. 12). On the reverse side, when we look at the inscription on the engraved plaque, we read that it is a grid project for the choir of the cathedral of Amiens. This motif is thus related to the work of the choir of this cathedral between 1765 and 1770, and more particularly to the grille of the ironworker Jean Veyren whose rocaille motifs are indeed very close to this model.
