Goff, P-755. - Hain, *13038. - BMC, V, p. 225. Fifth edition of this treatise on restitution, wear and excommunication, one of the very first economic texts . It is the work of the Italian religious, Doctor of Canon Law, Francisco de Platea (14...-14...). In addition to economic questions, it deals with moral, juridical and political issues affecting Italy. In the section on excommunications, he details, among other things, seven ways of falsifying papal documents, which, of course, would lead to excommunication. It also considers the moral status of a person who ordered a failed assassination and condemns inquisitors who extort money from alleged heretics. The editio princeps was printed around 1472, without location, but probably in Padua. The present edition was published only two years after the first one, and came out of the Venetian presses of John of Cologne and John Manthen of Gerretzen. Jean de Cologne was a printer-librarian in Venice from 1471 to 1491. He joined forces with Vindelin de Spire in 1472 and then with Jean Manthen de Gerretzen in 1474 before joining forces with Nicolas Jenson from 1480, with whom he introduced the oldest example of a typographic mark. Superb and rare copy in Venetian binding of the time, decorated with a cold-pressed interlacing wheel
