IMPORTANT CHAPTER OF APPLICATION in limestone carved with decoration of an interlacing of straps with palmettes drawn up on two registers; these straps are retained by heads of animals decorating the upper part of the basket; astragal in torus.
Saintonge or Angoumois, circa 1100
Height: 50 cm - Width: 55.5 cm - Depth: 45 cm
(erosion, accidents and failures, especially at the heads)
The quality of the limestone, soft and subject to erosion, as well as the decorative theme with these strips ending in palmettes, linked together by rings and held by animal heads, seem to refer to the Romanesque art of Saintonge and Angoumois.
