DOORS CLOSED (The) or Double Surprises. S.l.n.a. [circa 1820]. In-32 (77 x 55 mm), in sheets, cardboard case of green paper, lithographed title on pink paper pasted on the first plate (Publisher's binding).
Very charming little book with moving figures, containing 6 notebooks of 4 pages and 6 pretty engraved and colored plates.
Each figure represents a character standing in front of a door, and when the door is opened, a second character is discovered, then a third one by transparency, hence the title of double surprises.
There is also a first suite (ours is the second) with 6 different entries (cf. Gumuchian, no. 2027).
