Wedding chest embroidered with arms, Italy, late 17th-early 18th century, wooden chest with curved cut sides entirely sheathed in green silk taffeta embroidered in needle paint and silver threaded with guipure of tulips, poppies, carnations and roses inscribed between palms of foliage. Domed lid embroidered with a coat of arms; the compartmentalized interior is lined with paper in the vat. It rests on six carved wooden legs depicting lions lying down and two turned legs in gilded wood on the back, (remarkable state of conservation for an object of this fragility, some wear). Approx. 56 x 66 cm.
