L.S. "Hausmann", Limoges, December 29, 1963, to Pierre GARNIER; 1 in-4 typed page, signed in pencil; in French.
On his phonetic poems, with a beautiful calligrammatic signature.
He thanked him for the six copies of the Letters.
"By carefully studying the various statements, I naturally find PETRONIO's most important one, especially, if we compare it with his text in Cinquieme
Saison. As for your explanation of the loudness, I would like to point out to you that I was in correspondence with Carlfriedrich CLAUS for months in 1960 and that I was sending him the sheet, a copy of which I am attaching to you.
It goes without saying that SCHWITTERS and I were very good reciters and that I had always based my phonetic poems on the breath. It comes from the fact that I have an extraordinary breath, and if I used TZARA's expression "the poem is made in the mouth", I simply thought "by the breath". I never "composed" my phonemes on paper. But, I think, I gave an explanation in my text on Skopophonotomy. So, long live the breath!".....
The black pencil signature forms an arabesque on which are inscribed the letters of his name.
