Christopher Wool (Né en 1955)

For the past 10 years post-war icon, Christopher Wool, born in 1955 in Chicago, has witnessed a lightning ascent in art galleries and cultural institutions following the retrospective organized by the Guggenheim Museum in New York in 2013. 

After two years of expansion work, Galerie Hufkens - which has three spaces in Brussels - will reopen in June 2022 on rue Saint-Georges. Its seven floors will total 8,611 ft2 of exhibition space. The American artist Christopher Wool will be in the spotlight for the inaugural solo show.

Accused of defrauding collectors, investors and lenders of $20M, the 34-year-old art dealer faces up to 20 years in prison and will have to turn over to authorities $86.7 million related to the frauds. Two paintings - a Christopher Wool and a Wade Guyton - will be confiscated. Sentencing is expected in March 2022.

The gallery announced on its Instagram account its collaboration with the family of Eugène Dodeigne (1923-2015). The first exhibition in the Parisian space will coincide with the centenary of the birth of the French sculptor, to whom La Piscine de Roubaix dedicated its first French retrospective in 2021.
