What inspired you to become an art dealer?
My parents took me around to antique shops as a child. Back then I wasn't too interested, but it’s probably what sparked my curiosity for beautiful furniture and objects from the past. With art, it was a 1973 François Morellet show at the Fine Arts Museum in Nantes when I was still a teenager—my high school was just down the road from the museum. His neon works were a real eye-opener.

If you could do it all over again, what would you do?
I’ve been a dealer for a long time, even though my career in the financial management of several companies has given me plenty of satisfaction.

An artist or work that has caught your eye recently?
A magnificent sideboard by Hans Wegner, which will be at the gallery soon. I want it to be perfect, so I’m sending it to my restorer first.

Is there a dream artist or work of art you would like to exhibit in your gallery?
I’d love to organize a show that brings a contemporary artist's work together with a selection of major pieces from the designers I exhibit and some fine pieces of African art. That’s what I try to do at home, where Hans Wegner's furniture is seen alongside works by Claude Viallat and Carole Benzaken, and some magnificent Ashanti and Senufo stools.

Do you have a mantra?
Never give up, and work harder than anyone else, but always with a smile.

What projects or upcoming events are on the horizon?
Displaying the stunning furniture by Børge Mogensen and Hans Wegner that I recently bought; developing the contemporary artists program, which started with a hang of works by Kassia Knap from Poland; and being able to shop around again in Scandinavia and Northern Europe, like before Covid-19 (justifiably) kept us from traveling.
