The new director of the Condé Museum of Chantilly has clear, coherent and ambitious plans to revive the period of the Duke of Aumale.

At 35, Mathieu Deldicque embodies a new breed of curators. Combining youth and field experience, the graduate of the École nationale des Chartes ( editor's note: a prestigious French school specializing in the auxiliary sciences of history ) quickly set his sights on the Musée Condé at Chantilly. “I've been working there for 10 years,” says Mr. Deldicque, who initially trained as a curator at the Musée Condé before passing the Institut national du patrimoine competitive examination in 2015 and being appointed to the Musées de France department. With a doctorate in art history under his belt, he was the domain’s assistant director under Nicole Garnier for seven years. Embracing all the facets of the complex and multifaceted museum collections that make up the Musée Condé, the Musée du Cheval, and the gardens and stables of Chantilly, this veteran of the collections assembled by  the Duke of Aumale has consciously and knowledgeably pursued the projects undertaken and the innovations, particularly digital ones, in order to, as Deldicque explains, "delve into, illuminate, and make it possible to see and understand the collections, by developing mediation and new approaches.
