39 paintings have been added to a list of forgeries by Wolfgang Beltracchi, originally tried in 2011 for 14. The fakes, mainly claiming authorship by 19th-century modernists such as André Derain, Auguste Herbin and Max Ernst, are unlikely to be used as evidence for a new trial due to time-barring laws.
