A Géricault Bulldog Head is Up for Auction at Drouot

Published on , by La Gazette Drouot

No, Théodore Géricault didn’t just paint horses… This Head of a Bulldog, heading up for auction this afternoon under Villanfray’s hammer, testifies to the painter’s passion for all animals. It’s thought to have been painted around 1818-1820, at least two years after a matching work, which is now held at the Louvre.
