A triumphant promenade in the Paris region for Carmontelle
Two days of sales with some remarkable and varied lots, like a commode in highly exotic wood, a monumental fountain and a famous "transparent"…

Louis Carrogis, aka Carmontelle (1717-1806), Panoramic landscape of the French countryside, transparent, watercolour and gouache, on several assembled sheets of Whatman with a black border, 32 x 1616 cm (detail of a transparent).
Result: €114,000
The eagerly awaited Paysage panoramique des Campagnes de France created by Louis Carrogis, aka Carmontelle, at the end of the Ancien Régime, finally garnered €114,000 after a high estimate of €50,000. A well-deserved victory for this type of piece by the celebrated all-round genius, whose talents included draughtsmanship and organising festivities. After that, the top results were achieved by the decorative arts, such as the €96,000 that went to a monumental wrought iron fountain (diam. 280, h. 400 cm) produced by the Ducel or du Val d'Osne foundry in the 19th century. This features three basins with a decoration of children in the style of Charles-Antoine Bridan. Meanwhile, an amazing mid-18th century commode in muira cataria with lively lines and silver-gilt bronze ornamentation, bearing the inscription "A Baader fecit" (89 x 131 x 67 cm), fetched €16,800. On Sunday 7 June, attention shifted to jewellery and timepieces. A steel Submariner 200m Oyster Date Rolex from c. 1970 gave the time for €18,600 (case 1680/2939080, gross weight 180 g). Another glittering performance came from a grey gold and platinum ring set with a brilliant-cut diamond of around 2 ct (gross weight 3.28 g), which was pocketed for €13,200.
