Gilded copper reliquary. Flemish. Gothic. 15th century.
With a hexagonal base, it has an elaborate embossed node and cylindrical shaft. The upper body is cylindrical with an architectural structure which is protected by four stylised columns topped by pinnacles, one of which is missing, and another needs soldering. The interior of the lid preserves all its gilding and has a fretwork four-leafed clover. The upper part is topped off with a beautifully turned node and a cross. The bolts and fastener are missing. The glass is from a later period.
Provenance: acquired in Sotheby´s on 8-9/7/1981, lot nº 261.
