Large gilded, chased and embossed bronze monstrance.... Lot 15

Large gilded, chased and embossed bronze monstrance. Italy. Tuscany or Lombardy workshop. Gothic. Circa 1500. Polylobed base, with chased floral decoration, adorned with three silver medallions. The shaft has a hexagonal node embellished with six embossed, flower-shaped medallions. The body is also hexagonal and formed by six silver gothic window shapes surrounded by stylised wrought and gilded bronze pinnacles. It is topped with a gilded silver dome. The small cross is a later addition. 39 x 14,5 x 15,5 cm. Provenance: acquired in Sotheby´s on 12/7/1979, lot nº 36.
