BOISSEVIN, Louis Profil de la ville de Bruxelles siège et résidance des ducs de Brabant. Paris L. Boissevin [after 1648] 2 copper engravings, together: 28,5 x 71,5 cm (central folding, some spotting, browned restoration). Framed. Rare panoramic view of Brussels with legend. The same view but with different publisher's name and address and in a slightly different size is present in Jean Boisseau's "Theatre des citez", a rare atlas with oblong views published between 1642 and 1648. Given that Boisseau had no heirs, Boissevin most likely bought some of his copper plates. Pastoureau mentions his buying of Boisseau's "Tresor des cartes geographiques des principaux estatz de lunivers" which he reprinted with the omission of Boisseau's name from the imprint in 1653. Besides this view of Brussels, a 1644 view of Grenoble from the collection of the French national library was as well reprinted by Boissevin. In both cases the imprint is changed into Boissevin's name and his address in the "rue St. Jaques à limage de Ste Geneviesne". Louis Boissevin was one of the lesser-known engraver-publishers of the 17th century. Ref. Pastoureau, Boisseau I [29] and [17]. - BNF, Dép. Cartes et plans, GE C-2990.
